Whiskey Jack Resort backs onto miles of Crown Land, allowing visitors and residents access to a seemingly endless amount of terrain to explore. A trail network is slated for the resort itself, facilitating cross-country skiing, walking, biking and running.
There are beautiful scenic treks for hikers of all levels. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Elk Valley, waterfalls, 100-year-old cedars and spectacular mountain ranges; be sure to take your camera.
For the more adventurous, the mountains are accessible for mountain biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Downhill skiing is a 20-minute drive west from Whiskey Jack at the world famous Fernie Alpine Resort, while 40 minutes east is Castle Mountain —an undiscovered gem. You can also enjoy snow cat skiing 20 minutes away from Whiskey Jack.
There are many lakes in the Elk Valley. Koocanusa, with its sandy beach, is a 40-minute drive and great for house boats, fishing, water skiing and kayaking. Surveyors Lake is a 35-minute drive and a perfect place to take the kids, lay on the beach to relax, dip in the lake and swim to the wharf.
If cliff jumping into the plunging cool waters of the Rockies is more your style or soaking in the hot mineral waters next to the icy creek on a cold day tempts you, it is all available right here in the Elk Valley.
